Indian Railways has set ambitious targets under SCDPM-6, including cleaning 100,000 sites, clearing 700,000 square feet and earning Rs 600 crore from scrap disposal, alongside nationwide Rail Jan Samvad scheduled for October 22, 2026.

Indian Railways has intensified efforts to accelerate the Special Drive for Clearance of Pending Cases 6 (SCDPM-6), setting targets to clean 100,000 sites, clear 700,000 square feet of space and generate Rs 600 crore through scrap disposal. A high-level review meeting was held through video conferencing on 08.10.2026 under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Railway Board, to assess and strengthen the campaign’s progress across Zonal Railways and Railway Board units.

The meeting was attended by Additional General Managers (AGMs) of Zonal Railways, Additional Divisional Railway Managers (ADRMs) of Divisions, Chief Public Relations Officers (CPROs) of Zonal Railways, General Managers (GMs) of Production Units, Chairmen and Managing Directors (CMDs)/Managing Directors (MDs) of Railway Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Directors General (DGs) of Training Institutes, concerned officers of the Railway Board and SCDPM-6 Nodal Officers in field units.

The review focused on progress against the campaign’s targets, measurable outcomes and the timely disposal of pending cases. Indian Railways is working towards cleaning 100,000 sites, freeing up 700,000 square feet of space and earning Rs 600 crore from scrap disposal as part of the drive.

In line with this year’s priorities, special emphasis has been placed on the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. Scrap disposal under the General Financial Rules (GFR) is another key area of focus. The Railways is also identifying improved approaches, including Waste to Wonder, for adoption on a larger scale.
